Yes. It is if you are doing a stereo car and have vibration issues. If you are after some give evo201 a PM. He sells it at his shop.

i know nothing about car stereos, and i know a little about physics and shiz, but i would assume that the sound deadener would absorb a lot of the noise vibrations, therefore lowering you dB reading.

Some of us like to enjoy the music and not have the vibrations and rattles in the background. And used in MODERATION sound deadener will infact improve SPL. It has been proven many a time. Dont completely cover the panel or boot as that will absorb sound energy, however a few small sheets in the centre of the problem areas will in fact minimise the panel flex, thus minimising the vibration and increasing SPL. You also get the added benefit of enjoying your music without the number plate and roof line playing to the beat.

I have done it many a time and seen proven results.

Both Bob and Rhys stereo systems are win, they sound frogger amazing and they both produce some nice numbers on the DB reader.

Brads produces frogger massive numbers but sound quality is sacrificed a little.

Big Call Tim.

I don't know anything about stereo's except that you want to play them too loud for my liking. (I'm already deaf enough as it is)

I would have thought that vibrations would cancel out sound waves which would reduce readings for SPL. Also I would assume application (i.e. inside the car or outside) would also have an affect on overall performance. If some how your intention is to use it inside the car, then perhaps a thin lining is beneficial, or it is outside then probably a larger lining is beneficial, to help reduce the transfer of sound exiting the car. You would have the metal floor exposed to the sound so that would help in bouncing the sound waves.

Once again SPL information is probably my second last interest next to tuning EFI engines but I would assume what I said is relevant and of some use.

that is a question you need to do a lot of research on as different makes of different audio gear have different needs than you look at wat you can do to your car to see wat can help that aswell capacitors the size of wiring you use can affect it car audio is a fine art and i think everyone on this forum including myself have only just touched the surface of that side of thngs

I would assume for all out SPL sound deadner of some sort to stop vibrations of the panel would be good but then you have to counter the obsorbing properties of deadner. I suppose deadner with some sort of hard sound reflictive (but firm so as not to vibrate) substance would be the go.

So go and deaden you car and then cover that in Lexan. Then fit a V8 to pull the extra tonne of weight Razz
