| These aren't the best advice. I'm gonna be honest, if you want a faster car, sell it, and buy a car that is faster. It will be cheaper, and more reliable. | |

I'm gonna be honest, if you want a faster car, sell it, and buy a car that is faster. It will be cheaper, and more reliable. You should know that the majority of us on here are not that smart. We prefer to do things the hard way but in the long run have something that is not run of the mill and also alot of fun. And i think that most of us would not have it any other way. As for the Excel, I am sure people used to have a heap of sucess with turbo kits for them. But i might be thinking of the wrong year model. But if it is the one, there was a heap of aftermarket kits available.

| If you want an excel that has a completely different motor, look at Honda engines. SR's and 4G's have been done before. To my knowledge, no-one has put yo or even a G13B from a GTi swift into them as yet | |

| if you want something unique and different it is most likely going to cost A LOT of money as it will involve alot of research to whoever is doing it id either do the 4g swap as i dont know of any any in townsville with one so it will be abit different or you can just buy tims civic and put a hyundai motor in it to piss him off even more lol i love you tim | |

| the engine bay on an excel would take just about any sub 2 litre 4 banger, with a bit of creative modifications would slot in nicely.
just out of curiosity, what engine do you have in youe excel (they came out with a few)
if you have the twin cam 1.8 litre motor, i think you'd be better off getting it rebuilt and boosting it. (unless you are on your P plates in which case you wont be able to do the motor swap either.
another thing you have to think about with the motor swap is also how you are going to fit the transmission up to the motor you choose or fit the tranny that goes with the motor in the car.
there is a fair amount of work to go through to swap an engine over, but with heaps of hard work, and if it is done properly can be real neat and satisfying.
and rhys, with regards to it not being done before, im sure that there would be something similar done somewhere to base your ideas. and if not, just think of how satisfying it would be to have it all completed.
