Yep that is the intercooler.
Definitely explains why i dont build boost until 5000rpm and why it only made a MAXIMUM of 11psi.

I'm surprised it even made that much!

Now with a new aftermarket cooler your turbo will have to make much less boost to get to 11PSI, lol could you imagine how much air it must have been compressing to still get positive pressure with that big hole in it!

Bloody puppy tins. Turn that puppy down or you will need to rebuild your block aswell.

Im getting the intercooler repaired.
Just dropped it off at Bayswater road radiators, hopefully get it back by Wednesday next week.

Its gonna cost me about $1000 to get a new intercooler and piping to suit, as opposed to $100 to get it welded. Not to mention that I cant have intercooler more than 2inchs thick otherwise it rubs against the front bar.

Also i think the block is fine, whats concerning is that the turbo had been spinning at maximum revolutions for like 6 months, greatly wearing out the turbo. Hope the damage isnt too badly worn.

I meant after you get it fixed make sure you lower the boost or you will pop the block. Either that or it was only a small fracture in the intercooler and apon removal it opened up and tore a bit more. You can only hope.

Damage was pretty bad, they can't guarentee it wont leak again.
As long as it lasts a few months that would be sweet.

Just went for a drive, and car feels very different.
Definitely feels torqiuer than before.
Also the first time i had max boost (9psi) in 5th gear.
Use to make 9psi of boost at 5000rpm, now its like a little over 3000rpm.
Didn't rev it further, car kept jolting, like it wouldnt rev cleanly.

Took the girl out for a spin to AIMS, I have not been out for a good long drive in her for ages. Give her some stick, clean out the cobwebs, loose a turning light because of the crap roads, gotta love it. I just hope the light did not hit anyone.

it is a turning light. It is the weird light on the side next to the headlight on the U12 that comes on with the indicators. I think it was thought holding it in there. I drove from the Gold Coast with it and it took the Townsville area to make it fall out. I also had the needle come off the oil pressure guage. But that might be due to how many times I have had the dash apart. Yet another thing to fix.
